What Flannery O'Connor Believed

 

Flannery O'Connor believed strongly in a spiritual reality that was missing from the lives of those around her Flannery O'Connor believed that a writer must "convince through the senses" and that "fiction deals with reality through what can be seen, heard, smelt, tasted, and touched."  Flannery O'Connor believed that faith could be nourished through reading.  Flannery O'Connor believed "the truth doesn't change according to our ability to stomach it." Flannery O'Connor believed that contemporary society was drastically changing for the worse. Flannery O'Connor believed that, in a culture as numb as ours, you have to use heavy artillery to wake them up and make them see.
